We rented the house from Dec. 27., 2025 to January 3., 2026. Upon our arrival in the late afternoon, the brick house seemed to have been unattended for some weeks, a fact the owner admitted to. He also mentioned that usually he house is not rented out in January/February. During the time leading up to our stay, very low temperatures prevailed.
In contrary to previous information, the house was not heated in advance, and thus extremely cold (inside=outside temp), in particular the bedrooms and the tiny bathroom. Owner and agency attempted to help but there is only an air condition / heating pump available providing a maximum 28 degree air stream. Heating a brick house with large window fronts to a tolerable temperature would have at least taken 48 hours.
There is also an oven. But at our age (both 67) we were not able to keep a fire going all night. Since there was no other remedy offered and we were afraid for our health under those conditions we decided to leave the place that same day.
Sol go Strand refused any kind of refund so far. They kept the full pre-payment, even for the final cleaning, although we stayed only 2 hours. An extremely disappointing experience.
